John Christopher "Johnny" Depp II^[1] (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, known for his portrayals of offbeat, eccentric characters such as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.

He has collaborated with director and close friend Tim Burton in seven films, the most recent of which include Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) and the upcoming Alice in Wonderland (2010). Depp garnered acclaim for his portrayals of real life figures such as Edward Wood, Jr., in Ed Wood.

Films featuring Depp have grossed over $2.2 billion at the United States box office and over $4.7 billion worldwide.^[2]Depp has been nominated for three Academy Awards and has won Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The Simpsons is an American television program that is an animated comedy, created by Matt Groening. The comedy takes place in the fake (make-believe) town of Springfield. It started on December 17, 1989 and so far 420 episodes have aired over 19 seasons. As of May 2008, the show has been renewed for a 20th season, which should be aired in 2008-2009. The end of the 18th season was the 400th episode. A full-length movie, The Simpsons Movie has been made, released on July 27, 2007, in order to celebrate The Simpsons franchise.

Mecano was a Spanish language synth-pop band from Madrid, Music of Spain. Brothers Nacho and José María Cano, along with singer Ana Torroja, formed the band in 1981. Mecano's debut coincided with La_movida, a sociocultural movement that occured in Spain during the 1980's. Soon after forming, they achieved wide-spread popularity with their debut single, "Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar". Nacho Cano branched out into producing other bands, and both he and his brother wrote songs for other pop up-starts. Mecano had another hit in 1986 with "Me Cuesta Tanto Olvidarte". In 1991, the band members decided to set out on solo careers. Prior to their international success in 1986, Mecano had three successful albums in Spain and Europe. However, it was not until the release of their 1986 album, Entre el Cielo y el Suelo that they achieved international success beyond the Spanish-speaking world. One of their most important songs, "Hijo de la Luna", was covered as an aria by one of Opera's greatest contemporary singers, Montserrat Caballé. Their follow-up album, Descanso Dominical, produced their biggest single ever, "Mujer Contra Mujer", which deals with a lesbian relationship, seen through the eyes of a male friend, who only later realizes what is going on. The song was recorded in French, English, and Italian, giving Mecano their first truly global hit.
